The F-23 was simply lacking on the street circuit, being strangled by it's own tech but biggest surprise was Checo, what on earth happened to the 'street specialist' just couldn't find the right set up like Max did.

From hindsight, what Verstappen did at 2023 Monaco Q3 qualies reminds of 2021 Saudi Arabia Q3 qualies: maximum risk - zero safety margin.

At Jeddah he was on his way for a crazy lap time (purple S1, purple S2) but hit the wall in the final turn of S3. Likely one of his most daredevil qualification laps. At Monte Carlo he performed a crazy full-risk sector 3, scuffing walls but this time not crashing into it. This time around he pulled it off, grabbing the pole despite -0.2s after S1 and S2.

Even Fernie's seemingly down to earth approach was scuppered by bringing him in for mediums, all AM had to do was to keep him out to hang on tracking Max, his only chance then would be to catch up to Max if he had a delay in the box such as a jammed wheel nut. Gambles usually fail at Monaco and hot blooded Fernie can only dream of matching Professor Max.

You could tell by Carlito's speech he was on the edge getting frustrated leading to the wing hit at Chicane du Port, there was simply no way he would get past Ocon by pressuring him and the message to wear out his tyres was perhaps the wrong radio call, it only meant he would wear out his own by trying, at least he could continue with the broken off end plate not making much of a difference.

Checo still hasn't explained exactly what made him crash heavily at St.Devote with no pressure and no one behind him, saying he just 'lost the rear end' just doesn't cut it, like last year's quali crash blocker where he lost the rear., didn't work out for him this time.

Hoping for better times in the Ferrari team , because the Ferrari race strategy was again a big wake-up call for Ferrari Fred ...
