I've gone for the I5 M Sport in Sistaco Grey, if it ever turns up! Currently got a 21 plate 320i M Sport on PCP. Factoring tax, insurance etc I'll actually be £27 a month better off so it was a no brainer, when I'll actually see it mind you is another thing!

Cloud connected has nothing to do with it. In some countries the laws allow the faulty part to remain in the vehicle since should the issue occur the braking power would still be above the minimum requirements. You will get error messages on the display should the conditions occur.

Stop Sale Parts

I was to have taken delivery (2025 530i) the day after the stop sale order. Like everyone else, I'm being told, "Still waiting on parts." I'd be interested in knowing if anyone in USA has taken delivery of a 5 series that had been part of the stop sale. Would like to know if any dealers have received parts yet for 5 series. This lack of communication is remarkable.

My dealer said that they had begun receiving parts for the X5 and 7 series.

i5 Recall

Yesterday, the "track my bmw" feature updated the status of my 2025 i5 edrive to "in transit". In the past, when I have ordered BMW's from Germany, this usually meant that the vehicle had arrived at the VPC and had been loaded on a semi truck for delivery to the dealer.

I contacted my sales agent and he replied that my order was still in Germany and was still on a stop sale basis.

I am not sure what to make of this.

What is everyone else's take on this situation?

Not enough information to take a guess. Have you been tracking it the entire time? Have you been At the Port in Germany, In Transit for the ocean crossing and then At the Port again when at a VDC?

While you’re researching this, do you have any contacts at Dingolfing who could finish my 540? 😜 And get it out of quality check purgatory?

My 540 has been sitting at the VDC in Jersey since early August I've been okay with the situation but now it's starting to get frustrating...

Just out of interest, how long has yours been in QC for? Mine has been in QC for 33 days and counting! I imagine with the amount of vehicles coming off the production line, and the size of the recall, there is a parking lot somewhere chock-full of BMW 5, 7 and iX series cars waiting to be worked on.

The 550e I'm tracking has been in QC for at least a couple of weeks. Either Track my BMW is unreliable or as other's have said, they have one heck of a parking lot full of cars that aren't moving. I wonder if you can get a picture of that.

Um, don't look now kids, but there is yet ANOTHER recall related to braking.

https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/09/26/b...ecall-expands/

BMW has issued a recall for 270 vehicles in the United States due to faulty welding on braking systems supplied by Continental AG, adding to previous global recall. The problem, discovered at BMW’s Shenyang, China, plant during routine quality checks in July 2024, highlights the growing complications surrounding Continental’s brake-by-wire technology. The defect involves the welding of a key component in the brake system, which could result in emergency braking systems malfunctioning, increasing the risk of crashes.

This recall follows an earlier BMW campaign in February 2024, affecting over 76,000 vehicles, in which faulty parts had to be replaced. Since, BMW of North America recalled an additional 278,000 vehicles. Now, it seems the replacement parts used at the time were insufficient, forcing BMW to expand the recall once more. The announcement may involve just a few hundred vehicles in the U.S. for now, but globally, it has affected a much larger number. Just earlier this month, the automaker was forced to recall 1.5 million vehicles over a separate electric component issue, a fix estimated to cost BMW nearly €1 billion ($1.11 billion). Continental maintains that the parts were delivered according to BMW’s specifications, but the automaker’s recent testing reveals these standards were insufficient, particularly in the brake system’s electronic control unit

Ya, that came out the other day. Only affects an additional 270 vehicles as the other are already subject to the original recall/stop sale. Needless to say, Continental is not looking good.

What I'm curious about, is are the welds they're referring to done by humans, or robotics. If it's automated, I'd start to wonder whether or not the same program is used in every BMW manufacturing location, and if this is going to blow up too.

It would not surprise me if Continental is sued 7 ways from Sunday.

I would assume it is done by robot but have no information to support that.

I think it would be very unusual for a weld NOT to be done by robotic machines. Which makes the fix all the more difficult to manage. Machines weld far more accurately than humans over a long period of time.

Last week I was told 2 more weeks by the dealer (the car is on their lot). Yesterday I was told two more weeks. I was promised since the deal had been made that they would give me one free lease payment. But like everyone else I am getting frustrated and told the the SA that I was thinking about Audi and Mercedes. His response was I understand. It indicates to me a lack of certainty on their part.

At the end of August, they told me “2nd week in September.” A week ago, they told me “mid October.” My 2024 I7 has been baking in the late summer sun at the VDC in Port Hueneme since early August. At what point is a brand new 2024 no longer a brand NEW car??? They really need to be talking about some serious, ADDITIONAL discounts on these year old cars.
