The worst part of those spouts was that they were oily when you put them in the trunk between uses. I made a bracket to hold mine to the fender well under the hood of my oil-hungry VW Rabbit back in the day.....

I still carry the guilt about what I used to do with the used oil. See 3798j's post above.

This prompted me to go take a pic of something sitting on a shelf in my garage.

Why? The oil came from the ground in the first place! You just borrowed it for 3,000 miles, and then recycled it back to where it came from.....

When I got my degree in environmental geology I learned how much damage waste oil can cause. "Just a few quarts" when multiplied by lots of people doing the same thing can wreak havoc on an aquifer. Luckily where I grew up our water came from reservoirs.

This refrigerator reminded me of what I certainly do not miss, and that is the old refrigerators, which could not be pushed open, trapping many a child to their death. Thank goodness for the magnetic design (which this one is).

We have been getting ~15 years out of our stuff, and upgrade on failure (rather than repair) to get the most energy/water efficient replacements.....

That one in the basement must at least... 30 years old. lol

The older the better when it comes to appliances like that. They just lasted longer.

You store your "oil cans" in there too?

When I wrenched at the dairy we would spread the drain oil from the truck fleet, car fleet, farm equipment fleet, and factory equipment fleet on the dirt roads out on the farm. Kept the dust down.

Senior thoughts...

1. To me, "drink responsibly" means don't spill it.
2. Age 60 might be the new 40, but 9:00 pm is the new midnight.
3. The older I get, the earlier it gets late.
4. When I say, "The other day," I could be referring to any time between yesterday and 15 years ago.
5. I remember being able to get up without making sound effects.
6. I had my patience tested. I'm negative.
7. If you're sitting in public and a stranger takes the seat next to you, just stare straight ahead and say, "Did you bring the money?"
8. When you ask me what I am doing today, and I say "nothing," it does not mean I am free. It means I am doing nothing.
9. I finally got eight hours of sleep. It took me three days, but whatever.
10. I run like the winded.
11. When someone asks what I did over the weekend, I squint and ask, "Why, what did you hear?"
12. When you do squats, are your knees supposed to sound like a goat chewing on an aluminum can stuffed with celery?
13. I don't mean to interrupt people. I just randomly remember things and get really excited.
14. Don't bother walking a mile in my shoes. That would be boring. Spend 30 seconds in my head. That'll freak you right out.

I'm doing this the first opportunity I have. I may modify it to, "Do you have the item", but this is happening..
