I disagree a bit. Just cause you can get to 80-85 quick is 1 thing. Once these things are rolling at those speeds, you are fucked. These things are 15/20 times heavier than any Tesla. Just hope gotta hope you never get plowed into by one of them

I don't pretend to be a trucker. I do know a good friend who has changed careers to be one and should ask him about how it is being a trucker. But what little I know, truckers have to have a CDL. CDLs have much more stringent licensing requirements than the joke of a licensing system for your standard driver's license. Getting a moving violation as a CDL holder is a big deal for them. Not only that, truckers are pulled over at various inspection points to have spot checks on their vehicles along with checking their log books on if they're conforming to the required rest periods per time driven.

None of those things are done with regular drivers.

I totally get all that. They are most likely better drivers than most. But they can’t control the fucking morons on the road who cause accidents!! I don’t care how many trainings and different licenses you have. if someone causes a situation where you can’t

Well, now you're moving the goal posts. You stated you were worried about these big trucks and vehicles causing major damage/injury implying that they're also being operated by the same number of idiots that drive passenger vehicles. If an idiot cuts off these big vehicles and gets smashed in the process, then it's karma. Yes, you'll probably bring up the wrecks and injuries caused by a semi smashing into a collision scene that they were unable to stop for. But compare those numbers to the numbers of crashes just involving passenger vehicles even focusing on the ones with major property damage/injury and you'll see those numbers don't come close.

One of the things truckers do to ensure they can stop in plenty of time is to create spacing with following distance. Again, it's not the fault of the CDL driver is someone jumps into the spacing they created.

All I said was, if I had to pick to get in an accident with a Tesla or 18 wheeler, I pick Tesla every time. Lol. I was responding to someone saying they were worried about heavy Teslas crashing. I NEVER in my life have driven around worrying about any of this shit. Maybe it’s ignorance? I just drive. Shit happens. It’s a car. As long as no one is hurt, all good. I will say this though, Inhad street bikes my whole life. I miss having one all the time. But I’m never getting another one with how the roads are now. Every cocksucker is on the phone or watching videos. You see them swerving all over the lanes before you even catch up to them. People just have no fucks to give anymore

18-wheelers are slow and don't maneuver well. Kinda like dodging elephants. Teslas on the other hand are driven by tech geeks with no social skills and driving skills to match. Professional truck drivers earn a living by driving, so accidents really screw up their earning potential. I'll take a road full of semis when riding on my road bike rather than a road full of FSD impared Teslas. One thing successful motorcyclists learn, is how to stay out of blind spots.

While the Tesla TV screen depicts motorcycles, I'd rather the driver look out the windows and concentrate on driving, but that's just me.

I'd say FSD to take away some of the idiots actually driving would be an improvement.

I'd also say successful motorcyclists learn how to see things develop in front of them and know how to leverage various skills to avoid a collision. The many years of being on track and how to pick lines and passing slower riders, have taught me to envision places I can put my bike to get out of bad situations.

But I agree with you, that I rather have a driver actually drive and not being a zombie behind the wheel.

I can't say that's wrong. But the trend has been that as cars have gotten heavier, they've also gotten safer. For everybody.

What I suspect is, though, continued evolution of the battery. If you compare a 2014 i3 to a 2019 i3...battery size and weight - same. Capacity of battery? Double. I suspect that evolution may continue. Slowly, but it will.

Getting away from talking about M cars,AMG,Audi RS etc but the bulk of mass produced run-of-the-mill fuel cars you see every day like kia, ford focus,vw compared like for like with EV's see the electric cars much heavier, like it said in my last DM clip, and that means more road wear and tear, a worrying 'I'm alright Jack' attitude having a heavier vehicle should they be in an accident and someone also mentioned EV lorries also, not even worth contemplating what danger that would bring on public roads.

Some more from Rowan Atkinson on why you shouldn't buy an EV. Before becoming a successful actor he achieved a university degree in electronic engineering and then a Masters in control systems so knows something of what he's talking about (notwithstanding one or two car accidents he had).

lol...this kinda stuff is just more hyperbolic nonsense from a bunch of numbskulls who just throw shit against a wall in hopes it will stick....and in many corners of the internet it does, as seen by the above post.

a "run of the mill" Camry weighs about the same as a Model 3 and a 7 series weighs much more than a Model S

I know that you have crappy 1000 year old roads in England and everyone drives tiny cars, but we don't have those issues here and the average weight of a midsize sedan is the same weight as a Model 3

BMW 3 Series is pretty much the same exact weight as a Model 3 and a 7 Series is heavier than a Model S

enough with the nonsense about the weight, it's a ridiculous argument against EV's...stick to the charge times, that actually is an issue for those who don't have home charging

There is more to it than charge times, as much as you'd like to sweep it under the carpet. Like for like EVs compared with same fuel models ARE heavier which is one of the many issues and it doesn't take Einstein to work out that heavier vehicles wear out roads quicker, not only in Britain and yeah that sticks like glue.

Good riddance. I wouldn’t have thought he would but he did sign us up to an impossible deadline.
Glasgow is nuts. The greens are in coalition with the nationalists and find new ways of making life harder for everyone and adding new taxes etc and turning thriving city centre businesses to ghost neighbourhoods by banning cars etc.

The date for the ul eZ review is coming very soon and the blues are strongly against it (but for the moment I'll keep quiet about that later 2030 date they introduced by fatso until this is hopefully sorted
