Add more contrast to bring out the rain more and show more feather detail.
Nice shot.

For some reason I didn't publish this when I took it two-years ago. It was an incredible day and I had a ton of "money shots", so this one was lost in the shuffle:

In light of my previous photo. Took this one a while back when NY had it's tribute of light going for the towers.
5D2//17-40L. Unlike the last one though, not a lot of editing. The skyline at night kind of edits itself heh. Significantly less light pollution on this end of the island makes for better photos. |

Thanks. I added a bit more contrast.

Amber waves of grain... by dcstep, on Flickr This is some of what Katharine Bates saw when she wrote the lyrics to "America The Beautiful". This is a "short-grass prairie".

I can never seem to get a good shot of a field that doesn't end up boring -- props as I really like the above, Dave.
My contribution, pretty excited with the timing on this shot, I'll repost the small synopsis from Flickr below: Beauty and The Beast by ddk632, on Flickr This was a shot worth waiting for. I had my tripod set up, TS-E 17 manual focused perfectly on the bike, 580EXII flash with light green flash gel pointed at the trees for a forest effect. I just needed to wait for the perfect vehicle to pass by and be in my shot. I was hoping for a sports car or a motorcycle. I got a bike, some random cars, a BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, and a Panamera. Happy with those, as I was about to pack up, I see a white Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Roadster coming up. I ran to position and snapped this shot just in time! Love it! |

It was an opportunistic shot, meaning that I didn't go out there planning it. I WAS out shooting wildlife. I drove by and noticed the light and colors, stopped and got out and shot it. I think of it more as "chasing light" and having my equipment with me. Two hours later would have been "ordinary" but the prior morning I drove by that exact spot and it didn't move me. There are times that the light is just magic and I try to be very aware at those times. If I'm in my office and notice the light is magic, I grab my camera and go out. Dave

Three days ago it was 105. Today I was freezing my ass off in the city.

Nice bridge shots guys.
Yesterday, while I was shooting birds with my 1000mm set up, the bike race part of a triathlon went by my position, so I grabbed a few shots. I wouldn't normally grab 1000mm to shoot bikers, but the perspective is really nice, IMO. Biker 2 by dcstep, on Flickr

Wow, lots of great shots here. Love the Grand Canyon shot, DC. And the biker shot. Both excellent. The Merc and Motorcycle shot is also very cool. Nicely done, David.
Chewy, you're becoming an HDR demon. Are all those places near you? Ed, that looks cold. Probably preferable to 105, though, right? Icy J, does the roadway on that bridge intersect with the roadway on the background bridge? Looks like they almost meet on the left side of your image.

Mark, I will take cool over heat any time! I was in plenty of both this weekend, as I have been taking day trips all over the place, from the high sierra, to the coast. I will be doing a big post later on of my holiday adventure, but for now, here is a shot of my car in the redwood forest of the Navarro River Redwoods State Park, west of Booneville California on Hwy 128. A quick snap with my Fuji X100.

The reason I shot those is for a local competition where they wanted us to take photos around the university area. Additionally, since there is a strong possibility that I might be leaving Cleveland in the near future, I might as well take some decent shots with the little time I have left. Oh, and the reason I shot HDR as opposed to just at f/9+ is because either the sky has no clouds, or nothing but clouds (so it's either blue or gray). I figured HDR will give it some... oomph? Quote:

You need a tilt-shift for that. Take a shot, shift left or right, take another, then merge to remove yourself.
Still, the reflection of just the camera and tripod is cool looking.
