I still think the C7 Z is absolutely gorgeous. My dads old black one was one of my favorite cars I've ever driven.
The C8 isn't growing on me nearly as fast as the C7 did. But I think black helps the odd proportions, and skipping the wing. |

The C8 has this generic discount supercar shape. I do get the appeal though. It attracts a lot more looks than any other car in its price range. My mom knows her cars pretty well but saw a neighbor drive by in a red C8 and thought it was a Ferrari. So GM clearly made a statement with the design of this car.

I hate the c8 with a passion. It's like they cut a mid engine car and slapped a vette rear end on it without trying to blend at all. I've tried liking it, I really have, but it is nauseating. I thought the Z06 would change my mind, nope. Part of it is because I love large front end cars and now GM had nixed it. Specs seem great, but from an aesthetic view point I'm not on board. I'd take an emira all day over this without giving a shit that it is slower. In lieu of that I'd take a C6 ZR1 any day over this half assed nightmare

agreed, it's a street legal track car and with a dual clutch automatic no manual is going to compete on the track. Now for spirited road driving I agree, rowing through the gears is a joy. Of the 7 Corvettes I've owned over the past 45 years only one was an auto, I owned it less than two years ......

The Z06 may be a decent track toy, if you are ready to forfeit your warranty and pay exorbitant track insurance. However, I bet it won't achieve its advertised performance even on track, if we go by a regular C8 which has trouble outperforming heavy porkers such as M3/M4, and in carwow tests is no faster than a regular Cayman S. That's a common theme with Corvettes: they are almost always slower in real life.
Also as a daily driver the new Z06 will be an impractical overkill, too wide to efficiently thread through traffic, and borderline useless in winter due to extremely wide tires. And it doesn't offer a manual transmission, which means less driver engagement, which ultimately means less fun. So from my admittedly limited perspective the new Z06 is far from "changing the entire industry" as some claim, because for many enthusiasts cars like Cayman 4.0 MT6 and Emira V6 MT6 offer far more compelling and enjoyable daily driver experience. |

The C8 stingray is amazing and way underrated as a track performer. |

Don't even respond. He was talking about tracking cars and then mentions carwow as some barometer for tracking a C8. LOL |

For all of us wondering how the C8 Z06 normally aspirated engine makes more power than the outgoing C7 Z06 super-charged engine then this video is for you. Or for that matter anybody who appreciates engineering analysis.
We have known that the C8 Z06 would feature a 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 ever since the Corvette C8.R race car was unveiled with this same basic engine in October 2019. Recent rumors suggested the engine would be tuned to around the 617 hp mark for the Z06, so you can imagine our surprise when the car was announced with no less than 670 hp and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm). That horsepower figure makes this 5.5-liter flat-plane crank engine the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 ever used by a production car. It also gives the new car a 20 hp advantage over the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 used by the C7 Z06. Just how was Chevy able to extract so much power from this smaller-capacity engine without relying on forced induction? See the "Engineering-Explained" video at the link above. https://www.carscoops.com/2021/10/th...livers-670-hp/

2023 Corvette Z06. what's your thought?
I was curious what other e9x owners thought of the new Z06?
To me, it seems like Chevy really listened to what enthusiasts want and built a car that car enthusiasts wanted even if it meant going against the current trend of turbo and EV. It makes what bmw is offering now look complete rubbish(to me anyways). |

They built a monster. And at that price point, makes a GT3 look silly. Not a direct comparison, but that's where my mind goes. And of course a big fan of the NA high revving V8.

Trying to find somewhere where I’m not #300 on the wait list, proving to be harder than expected. Half the dealers don’t even know when they’ll even get info for allocations.

This vid, plus the Demuro vid, are probably all one needs to see.. Worth your time. GM have thrown down the gauntlet IMO. When the all wheel drive 750+ horse power hybrid C8s hit the market, the super car playground space will become redefined - both in terms of performance and value. Now let's get those Asian silicon chips unloaded from the cargo ships anchored right off the port of Long Beach shall we.. and start building some cars..

I'm guessing a base MSRP of $89K.. just to put the cat among the pigeons (i.e. the other car makers..)..

I think this is why GM has done a hell of a job with it. Not only are you going to have an entry point significantly less than other high revving NA sports cars but Im willing to guess the car itself with keep up with them as well. Now, Im not saying it'll be as good as the GT3s but unless you're driving both cars at 8/10s, I doubt you'll notice much difference. This is an extremely intriguing package. Ive gone from an E90 a few years ago to RS7s, M6 GCs and other turbo engines and here I am, back in an E90. Kudos to GM. I cant believe the hate its getting from some on here and other car forums of other top brands. Some people are in denial!
