Lesson number one for some. das kept his tyres up to temp hence it is the car not the driver.

It takes 2 (maybe 3 here, since they are short) laps to get tires up to temp!

So what about the other 8 (or 7) laps? VER is simply too slow bro. But at least he's faster than RIC.

Also DAS has an ability to affect the fronts only. Which would make it a super tail happy Merc. Did Lewis look like he had a loose car? No. Why? Because he can drive on cold tires.

Traction to pull away requires grip at the rear, so that you can accelerate out of the corners earlier and harder. Vehicle dynamics is a craft I had to learn for my profession, so sorry to burst your bubble here. And DAS can only have effect on front, and it would be negligible since the slip angles you'd have to achieve to get any kind of heat in into front tires while going slow would be HUGE.

Furthermore, if the car had warm tires in the front, and cold in the rear (where DAS has 0 effect) this is a recipe for a very tail happy car, and a great way to achieve a spinout. As in you get false sense of confidence during braking, at turn in, and towards the apex, only for the rears to break loose mid corner. Not a good idea for any racecar.

Hamilton's car was balanced at the restart, like it was the rest of the time. So unless it has magical carpets warming both front and rear tires equally, it tells me HAM simply drove better.

So we all agree Hulk is a great driver. Maybe not in the right car at the right time. If he was in a Merc he wouldn't beat Ham. If he was in RB he wouldn't beat Max. But for a driver to have no practice, qualify last, and finish P8 shows you how important the car is to achieve good results. That's why spec racing (specifically F2) is more enjoyable nowadays.

Guys, denigrating Hamilton doesn't make Max a better driver. Hamilton is a generational talent and probably the best driver in the history of the sport. Max is talented but he is no Lewis. Max is 98% as good as Lewis...I really believe that. But he is not as good.

One only need look at something that a non-Lewis fan pointed out to me which I never really considered. Lewis has a record of poles that is very similar to his record of race wins. Max has 2 poles and 9 wins in his 6th season of Formula One. This is telling.

Max has yet to drive a car as bad as the MP4-24 which Lewis was saddled with in 2009 after he won his championship. The car was pronounced, "unacceptable", by Martin Whitmarsh in it's performance. Lewis managed 4 poles and 2 race wins in the car. Compare that to his team mate who only scored 19 points in the championship compared to HAMs. The Brawn and the Red Bull were like the Mercedes and Ferrari of 2018. HAM was best of the rest with 4 pole positions and 2 wins but not a single fastest lap. The car wasn't fast in race trim over a single lap. Max has never managed a season like that with better cars. Case closed.

I wasn't old enough to watch F1 when Senna was racing. But I'm grateful I lived through Schumacher's and Hamilton's racing careers. I'm still young so maybe both their records will be broken in my lifetime.

Yes there is a reason these things happen: Lewis Hamilton. He made the difference in 2017 and 2018 or the Ferrari's would have won the WDC. He has put in laps that are faster than the theoretical limits of the car. Multiple times. Remember the, "Stardust" lap in Singapore.
