This is kind of scary as it will lead to flat out driving on unfamiliar roads.

I love the car, but Gee BMW, fix your crappy reliability before all this pointless wiz bang me too technology. How much you want to bet this will be a future source of headaches?
lol, touche.

This is on the right track! I love it. With the cameras, radar, and GPS they can then build on this tech to add smart braking, which will brake the car automatically and in a sporty manner, and smart steering that will steer the car in a sporty manner. This is just what I need so I can text message and post on the forums while "driving" the car in a sporty manner!

This is innovation that I, as a driver, must have! Finally I'll be able to enjoy a sporty driving experience!

The best thing? They can change their "Ultimate Driving Machine" slogan to "The Ultimate Riding Machine".

Nothing is free is this life.....a man telling me that I should let a machine do everything for me because its safer can kiss my a**.........a company by Airbus leaves by that theory an implements it into their computers' logic, hence why Airbus skims trees into a fireball wreck with their test planes, and Boeing doesn't, ebcause the computer encountered a situation it didn't have data for, and thought it made more sense to crash then to climb..... At the end of the day, a machine can help, but I want the final decision.

Cheers,

I realize that BMW is trying to gain market share away from Lexus, Audi and Mercedes (aka the non-enthusiast "yuppy brand snob"), but this is almost as bad as the Mercedes Benz commercial that's introducing the new electronic automajic saftey systems that brake/swerve the vehicle for you. In the commercial, the drivers are admitting to "almost falling asleep at the wheel" or "not realizing what was about to pull out in front of my car" etc...that's pretty much admitting your customer base is bored and falling asleep when driving your product, and/or they're idiots that don't pay attention to what they're doing while driving. If i were an ad exec in charge of Mercedes accounts, i would never allow that commercial to air....in my humble opinion...
the majority of their customers are not driving enthusiasts...
unfortunately.

Another useless piece of shit for the non-driving demographic. They should take a page out of Porsche's book; sell shitty cookie-cutter cars to fund the 911's preservation. Too bad BMW's going all Toyota on us.

Definitely a cool idea but I would think that most people who who enjoy performance driving would either be purchasing a manual transmission or using the paddle shifters themselves. This could actually be dangerous for the average person who doesn't understand cars to all of the sudden have the car downshift and speed up.

Great! This trans along with a turbo 4-banger for the F30 just makes me want to get Superman to fly around the world and speed up time to 2013 so I can go tell BMW to F'-off.
