Memorial Weekend getaway...suggestions???
My wife and I are looking to get away over the Memorial Day weekend. Any good suggestions on where to go within a 2 hr or so drive from Philadelphia?
Thanks in advance.

Take the fast train up to Penn Station in NYC.
Check Expedia and Priceline for hotels. Shop, sightsee, catch a show, eat some great food. -OR- When's the last time you did the Philadelphia tourist thing? Get a room downtown, walk around, shop, try a new restaurant or 2. It may feel like a new city if you don't have to go to the office. |

You could join us at our Spring BBQ meet, sorry for the plug
I suppose Atlantic City is out, you must go out there regularly, how about a drive down through Virginia, some nice roads out here, stay in a bed and breakfast or something.

the only reason i suggest nyc is because baltimore will probably be PACKED whereas nyC can actually get relatively quiet during memorial day. you could probably find a good deal in a outer borough hotel since you will be driving.

Gettysburg if you are into history and want to take in the true meaning of Memorial Day.

If you go to Virginia, I suggest Skyline Drive and getting a B&B to stay at along the way.

Not sure how far the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia is from you but there are some nice cabins you can rent. Also Delaware has some nice beaches...granted it may be to cold to go into the water, it is still nice to be on the beach.

Use Google Maps to search for 'Bed & Breakfast' in any area - Eastern Shore of MD/VA, Outer Banks of NC, Williamsburg, Dewey Beach, Poconos.
What's that big, famous, expensive resort in West Virginia? Might catch a holiday price drop there, or any other resort (Poconos?). Check Relais & Chateaux website for hotel/B&B/restaurant recommendations, for whatever area you end up in. All the things I can't do because of these little ones in my sig: |
