Lens autofocus accuracy comparisons

I, for one, don't want to start a Canon vs. Nikon debate. However, since there has been a lot of talk about which lens to buy, etc, I thought this article would be relevant. Also, it was a good read and I wanted to share it with all of you.

interesting read.... basically says, stick with the same brand on camera body and camera lens, don't get 3rd party stuff or you'll get higher chance of out of focus shots.

also to stick with F 2.8 lenses and slower as the bodies aren't calibrated for a faster lens.

Well, getting something faster than f/2.8 would give you a better low-light lens as well as more bokeh. You just gotta pair it with the right body.

I'll have to check the canadian cl listings.

I think my next major consideration will be the 70-300mm DO lense canon makes, but I don't know if i can justify the money for something that has to be stopped down a lot before giving a good quality image. I'll probably rent one soon to see if i like it enough to buy. Hard not to like the size of the lens.

If you rent it, let me know what you think... I've been eyeing that one too.

probably will be within the next few weeks, once i'm home. I'll keep you up to date.

I don't know anyone who has tryed it, so it's sorta down to the last resort for renting it and seeing first hand. (which obviously "try before buy")

after hearing about the length limit some stadiums are imposing on camera lenses, it seems like a good alternative.

Mark, stop it. I already bought too much camera gear recently and am still itching to complete my collection with some primes.
