I also remember seeing a big write-up in National Geographic several years back... they photo'd and interviewed the residents of these small villiages. Showed pictures of the red tress, etc.

I remember that day like it was yesterday.

Discovery Channel has a great documentary called The Battle of Chernobyl.
There are 2 versions floating on torrent sites. One in English and one in Russian.

You can't compare the Japanese plants and Chernobyl. They are two entirely different styles of nuclear reactors.
