Katrina victims being evicted
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070305/..._fema_trailers
While i am all for helping people out in the case of a disaster.... im confused as hell. These guys got free trailers... dont pay their electricity bills or anything else ( FEMA) picks up that tab.... and yet they are bitching? While yes they are being evicted because of health reasons - why are they complaining? They arent paying one damn thing and its been over a year now. Shouldnt there be a time limit on how long the tax payers pick up their tab? I'm completely confused. |

reason most of them are still living in trailers is because the rebuilding of new orleans has been going at a very slow pace.
but i agree, they shouldn't be complaining as they're being moved for health and sanitary reasons.

That's because there is absolutely no reason to rebuild it. The phrase geographically untenable pretty much sums it up. The US Army Corps of Engineers has stated that it isn't possible to secure the city against a hurricane above 3, so a 4 or 5 would do the same thing all over again. Rebuilding New Orleans = utterly stupid.

Still not worth it. They should save what's worth saving. Let the ocean reclaim most of what should be it's anyways, put up a levee further inland that will be able to protect the rest from a strong 4/weak 5. The only people that lived there were mostly very poor. There's plenty of poor areas that aren't below sea level. They got a mostly free year anyways, footed by everyone else in the nation.

i agree that the city should probably be rebuilt in another way and that it's pointless to rebuild areas that might just be disaster areas in the future. then again, i really know nothing about new orleans nor do i take a particular interest in the area. either way, the government was been slow to respond before, during, and after the disaster. funny how the casinos are all back up in operation like nothing happened.

Yea, we got all those worthless fucks.
Not all of them, but a large percentage. I still remember seeing an older lady on the news, standing out front of the Astrodome and she refused to go in. She kept saying with tears and agony, you don't know what those people are like in there. It broke my hurt to hear that. Then I saw some piece of shit on the news about 5 months ago. When they asked him why he wasn't working, he said he was "injured". The mother fucker was standing there on the porch and then standing up faxing shit. Lazy ass mofo's. I met my friends neighbor, who happens to be black and from Louisiana. He put his house up for sale as soon as it was announced we were taking them all in. He's from LA and said the people from NO are scum. |
