Its true. There are auction websites that work like this and people do win stuff for insane prices. The thing is that each bid costs $1 and adds a penny to the price. That Fridge may have gone for $195.29, but thats $19529 dollars spent "bidding".

Sites like these are very legit. Check out Swoopo.com. They make so much money selling shit cheap its insane. You have to pay for bids and each one costs $.60. All of the expensive auctions are penny auctions.

You laugh because the car sold for $500. Guess what, it did.

Here's how it works:

All the big ticket items are penny auctions.

Each bid = $.60

To get to $1 you need 100 bids. To get to $500 you need 50,000 bids.

50,000 x $.60 = $30,000

$30,000 - $14,500 = $15,500

So while it looks like items are selling for insanely cheap, these sites are making big bucks. Its very hard to win, but it is possible if you know what your doing.

I see $900 american express gift cards on Swoopo sell for $600 all the time. So there giving away $900, but making $60,000.

Smart idea if you ask me lol
