I used to be an adjuster at progressive" hated it" but anyways file with progressive will go ahead and cover your car and subrogate (like ins companies sueing each other) from United insurance as long as its NOT your gf's fault. They will subrogate for the entire amount including her deductible. Now if she was hurt you cannot go this route.

Sure they can, up to the limit of their personal medical coverage. I suppose it also depends what state you're in.
