Portable ACs?

Hi, Have any of you tried a portable AC in your home? I want to get one without the hose for my apartment, it's getting hot... Will they be cold as the window mount ACs? Any recommendations? TIA

those wont really work that well.. The reason portable AC's have hoses that run out the window is to let the large amount of heat generated escape. Any portable AC that doesn't require an external vent will only blow air that is maybe 65-70 degrees or so.

Don't let them fool you. I sold appliances for 7 years.

Yeah, I just got kicked down a portable AC but it does have a hose on it. Not a big hassle because they give you the attachments to snuggle it in your window.

Here's mine:

Heard EdgeStar is a good brand.

I hate portable AC....you will definately need a big hose for the heat exhaust outside. Also, you will either need a drain hose or dump water from the resorvoir every time it fulls....because there WILL be condensate liquids....

I had one when I lived in Boston...in an old apartment without any AC...and humid summer is unbarable....but its just PITA to have a portable one...and the cooling isn't as good as central AC or window mounted ones....

Window mount would be best but the portable ACs do work.

You will have to dump water multiple times a day. You will have to run a hose to a window. A large hose.

The one I got...it barely did its job....but as long as the cool air blow to me...I'm cool...

But sleeping with portable AC will be a nightmare...waking up every couple hours to dump water....worse than going to pee in the middle of the night....
and you cannot ignore due to the heat is going to wake you up eventually....

^^Self-evaporative system- Most or all condensate water is exhausted automatically
