snowmobile drag racing is pretty popular in some places and yeah, they're fast as shit.

there is a top gear episode (i think it was top gear) where they were riding snowmobiles across a lake. they were so fast they'd just skip across the top of the water.

I've been to GLD, and it is definitely 1/4 mile. Plus I don't think you could hit 178 mph on an 1/8 mile.

They actually raced a snowmobile AND a Jeep:

A perfect demonstration of what happens when spark plug wires get all wet, to the bottom of the lake with your expense snowmobile.

You flatlander

Bite your tongue. I live in the Bay Area, and I have an Polaris RMK 800 VE in the garage. Trailer it up to Tahoe for "real" riding

However when I go to the gas station to fill it up, i usually get "Nice jet-ski" I just chuckle

Those are no longer snowmobiles. They're... something else.

"I can categorically tell you that if you find yourself near an icelandic lake and you don't have any access to water-born transport you're best off going for a snowmobile."
