The big key is having the right tires, with a good set of pure winter tires such as the Bridgestone Blizzaks, any BMW will be fine in the snow with care. I personally have coilovers on my car and its dropped all the way to the ground, but with the winter tires, my car outperforms my friend's SUVs with ease. Remember, 4 wheel drive means nothing if your tires cant grip the ground, so tires are by far the most important thing you can do for winter.
