I would get an e30 BMW. For that you might a real nice M3. You would have a great car, performance and looks and after a few years it might even be worth more...Say a 1991 M3 with low miles...What a car...

Since you came to a BMW forum I'd expect at least 1 BMW on your list. Since you dodn't mention one, I'd get nice E46 or early higher mileage E90 (like on '06 325i).
If you really like to drive and know how to drive, once you drive a BMW you'll never go back. |

I have no problem with people injecting politics into non political threads, if i understand their motivation. I'm not quite sure what yours is. Furthermore, i'd be curious if you were as critical of the last president as you are of this one, because GWB didn't exactly do a great job. And the 95% of the condition of the country is a result of the things that happened during the Bush years. You won't see the true results of policy changes aren't realized for 6-9 months after the enacted (in most cases). So, feel free to keep chatting it up. I have a feeling that i'll be pointing at the scoreboard in the forth quarter. The funny thing is the things go well, we'll all win. I'm not sure how you can be against that. If you'd like to take this offline or to another thread, i'd be happy to flex my opinions with yours. In the end, nothing would change because you have your opinions and i have mine. Back to cars... |

my 2003 G35 was rock solid mechanically - the MT6 tranny issues were few and far between, you can read more at G35driver.com. The only problem was that the thing rattled like a baby toy after 50K miles, and was a thirsty beast if the right foot was used heavily. There are some issues with oil consumption in the high rev VQ, but again, a small percentage based on the numbers sold.
The S2000 would be great fun, especially at the track - and the handling is terriffic - but with so little torque, I found it tiring to always have the tach at 6K+ rpm to get real power (ok, ok, I drove one after I got the 335, so my perspective may be somewhat warped at this point). How about an E36 M3?

You can get those cars in good shape for 12K? I find it hard to believe a "good" S2k can be found for 12k.

S2000 if you can fit. It's the car I wanted before I got the 335, but my legs said no.

Have you considered a '04 VW R32? slightly rarer but i've seen higher mileage ones (50k+) for 13k. My friend has one and it is a absolute blast to drive. very stable and feels very quick for a 6 second car (i think its 6 sec? not sure but def. look it up if your into 0-60 times). I wouldnt recommend S2000 or STi's past 60k. I know a few guys who have gotten both for under 10k with more than 120k on them and they all run into problems every other week (literally) from clutch bearing issues to shift linkage issues (although it does seem more like wear and tear issues). Contrary to your claim about faulty 350z's and G35's, IMHO I would recommend them. One of the more reliable cars if carefully kept (oil changes every 5k, etc.)
I would consider E46 330i's if speed isn't too much of an issue. I have a steptronic 325i and its very decent as a daily. both are fast enough for the road and DD. |
