i think doomsday can happen anytime. we are not really understand everything in the universe yet, so no one can tell when it gonna happen or maybe we can't even see it coming. we should stop fighting with ourselves and focus more on space colonization.

Alignment of solar system with galactic center: This happens every year, 2012 is nothing special. QUOTE] there was just a natgeo thing on tv about this the other day. its the center of the milkyway and the rotation of the axis of the earth and sun that will make all 3 of them line up. happens every 26k years. the only thing really on the episode that kinda got my attention was that basically everything we can traceback civilization wise all started about the same time, 5200 BC. wheather it be the myans, inca, mesopotania, egyptians, and the frozen dude in the swiss alps, where everyhting kinda just appeared.

I will be sitting on my porch taking a crap near a fan when the shit hits the fan.
In all seriousness.....I think the notion of doomsday or end of time should spawn thoughts in our head about what if our days are numbered? How would we want to spend our final years / days? And start living to those means. Do we want to be the frugal miser who pinches all their pennies just so they can have a lucrative retirement only to die of a heart attack 60 days after retiring? Or do we want to live for today, explore, experience, make memories and lasting impressions? I think as humans we would all live a lot differently if we knew when our own individual clock was going to expire. |

*dark mayan chamber, lit only by candle light*
The chart-man must make a new calendar for the Emperor. It must go until a long, long time into the future as the Emperor would like to live forever. Chartman: (talking to himself, counting on fingers, writing down) "Two Thousand Nine, Two Thousand Ten, Two Thousand Eleven, Two Thousand Twelve, Two Thousand-" Wife: "YOUR SAMMICHES ARE READY HONEY" Chartman: "Coming!...(mind switches to food, like the normal male brain) Oh shit, lost count." end of story.

this is the reason so many people on this forum collect guns. when a deadly virus or meteor destroys civilization, people want to be prepared to defend themselves from zombies and wastelanders.
