Emerald cut will grab less light. The color will make less of a difference than a multi faceted cut. Look at table and crown dimensions also.
I am not familar with the relationships for an emerald cut but you should be able to find them. Also you make sure the polish and cut are excellent or at least vg

The other thing you might want to verify (and you can get some comparison values) is go to bluenile.com
You can use their search tool to narrow it down to a similar offering to the one you are considering. They have some of the best prices and really some good selection. I said crown but I should have said depth. Been a while since I was looking much (hopefully that won't change soon). You can actually have bluenile send you a stone (or more than 1) overnight and you return the one you don't want. They only charge the card after you make your selection. But on the surface that price does not sound bad. Right in the range of the BN prices.

Diamond isn't flawless, it's a VS1. GIA certified is one of the highest certifications. I own a jewelry corporation, send me a PM. I'll give you all the info you need.

emerald is a very elegant cut...but doesn't have "fire" like a round brilliant that is well cut...
If you stick with emerald...the cut is very important because these can look dead... This may be myth...but I tend to think that you are more likely to find a well cut stone just under 1 ct, 1.5 ct and 2 ct and so on...when the stones are just above these weights...the cutter may have conserved stone for weight to the detriment of the cut...just my .02 and i am no expert
