Burning smell through vents when slowing down, any suggestions?!

I have a E90 320i 2005 model, with approx 44k on the clock. Recently the car has developed a intermittent fault, with a very slight burning smell coming through the central vents into the vehicle.

It happens when the engine is warm and occurs when i'm slowing down/stopping at lights, etc. It isnt a regular occurance, but slightly worrying none the less. There are no signs of any smoke.

Just seeing if anyone else has had a simlar problem or perhaps could narrow down as to what it could be.

Thanks in advance.
