How do I put this?... Can't we all just get along?
Why is it that with the anonymity of a message board, people think they can all of a sudden be rude and callous?
This board was a breath of fresh air coming from e46fanatics -- with all respect to that board, as there is a wealth of knowledge there. This place was sparcely populated, well informed, and basically doing a great job of spreading the e90 gospel. Lately, I have noticed a tone here I that is disappointing. Just TODAY I have read three threads here that immediately turned to insults and name calling -- seriously juvenile behaviour. I'm not saying we must be prude, but we can at least show each other a little RESPECT. Let's rise above it if we can. G'night.

Thanks noflash. I think everyone will agree this is the best E90 board, so let's try and keep it that way. We're obviously all here because we're all connected through our love for a great car, so can't we be a little more understanding? There's no need to act childish, because that just ruins it for everyone.
Don't you guys remember when the bad kid in school did something wrong and the whole class got punished? Let's cool it a bit. |

What threads? I haven't noticed any hostility here, ESPECIALLY compared to other boards. I must have just not noticed the threads you are referring to.

I definitely feel you too.
For me, I was only active in honda forums. And yes, you guessed it. Its hell over there(not all, but most). I wanted a break from it. With my purchase of the BMW, one of the reason I was so happy was because now I get to play in BMW forums. I thought people in bmw boards would be much nicer. More respect and less negative criticism. but no. Its full of "I am better than you(a.k.a. cocky)" people. So far I am nothing but disappointed. At least E90post is the nicest. Boards like Bimmerfest or others is full of arrogant people.

one two three Also, glad to hear I am not alone. I guess I will just try to ignore all the drama. You just can't stop it. Maybe I 'll be forced to trade for an M5 so I can go to the classiest of bimmer board: www.m5board.com .

I think we all get along, there are of course some bad seeds every so often but I think the overwhelming majority here are awesome people. It all comes down to everyone treating each other with some respect, which means don't be a baby and call someone names just because they don't agree with you.

I think a Message-Board Twilight Zone episode would be great. A guy talks some trash on a board only to find the stalker at his door soon after. The stalker takes him outside and makes him key his own car and then the music NANA-NANA,NANA-NANA,NANA-NANA,NANA-NANA,NANA-NANA,NANA-NANA,NANA-NANA,NANA-NANA!!! HAHAHA!!!

The perfect example is the one just above this.
I somewhat agree, but not entirely. Your comment about the annonimity of the boards is true. Much the same as the apparent annonimity people seem to get when driving. I think we see similar patterns here. I don't think I've personally ever started a name-calling session (unless an attempt at wit goes awry), but I don't like to back down from it once I see it either. Call it a honk or a middle finger on the information highway. I think that those few jerks will be generally ostricized(sp) by the rest and eventually go find another playground with smaller kids. I have found that there are some really cool folks here, and enjoy reading and contributing to most of the posts. Hopefully most feel the same way. But I also think that the board reflects another - and IMHO terrible element of our society, and that is our passion for being offended. We get up in the morning just looking for something to offend us so we can be victimized and demand compensation. Sometimes you just have to turn the radio or TV station, walk away from the conversation, read a different magazine, or log off the forum... Sorry for the soap box.
