Got my drive, now what... (computer guys)

I am the administrator, and it wont let me format either disk actually, i have tried just for the heck of it.
How do i take a screen shot?

Hit the 'Prt Scr' key to the right of F12.

Not sure if it's the same on a laptop.

problem has been solved with a little help from mds82, thanks man! Thanks to everyone else who contributed to this thread.

I had to like change the partition (?) i think. haha i have no idea what im talking about, mds82 walked me though it and i got it to work.

Let me guess - you had to open administrative tools from the control panel, then disk management, then initialise the disk from there and format it !

I installed a second Serial ATA drive (500 gig) in my computer yesterday and had the same problem.

I think but not 100% sure that before you can format a brand new drive, the first step is to give it a partition. Once you give it a partition (and how big you want that partition to be), then the format drive menu will be activated for you. I think mr. Garcia said that he tried to format (as some of us suggested) but the format drive menu selection was greyed out due to the fact that the new drive was not partition. He did say that he is

Yeah - you initialise then set up partition(s) then format.

There does seem to be a glitch in XP as a number of wizards are supposed to start up and guide you through this. Only one did when I did it yesterday.
