Okay, so I saw it, and I thought it could have been better if a lot of the scenes were cut out. Maybe it was because I already knew the plot, but it seemed to drone on a little. I liked the original because it was cleaner and more subtle.

It was still well made though, and I guess it was a little different. I thought the cell phone message thing was a little corny though. Product placement ftl.

I read that Jack Nicholson demanded a rewrite to the script to maximize his screen time. In the original there was a relationship between the crime boss and the unit chief. There was no such relationship between Nicholson and Sheen. I also heard that De Niro, at one point, was slated to play the police chief. I thought his character was kind of weak, that's why they played up Wahlberg's character (he was very funny)

The way the police chief died in the HK version was like WHOA wtf!? In "The Departed" it was like super dramatic, probably because it wasn't a skyscraper.

I say go for it. With a cast like that, the big screen is worth it. If you have a squearmish gf or wife, try to not watch the movie within meal times

I saw internal affairs like years ago (cuz is chinese), and all of a sudden...all these celebrities were in Boston filming the remake. They were in Southie, Chinatown...Charlestown too I think. I remember I was having dinner in chinatown while they were filming.
Will watch it on Friday

No they're talking about Infernal Affairs, a HK flick on which 'the Departed' is based on.

Did I not quote this earlier post of yours?

You asked the question and I gave you my recommendation. My new advice is (when taking into consideration the good of society) to not go out in public.. Please stay home and catch it on Pay-per-view...

Are you still pissed at me because I wouldn't share the with you that one time? If so - :finger:

I had to pay her to accompany you because I knew it was your first time and more than likely would be your last time. I hope you enjoyed it.

I just saw it, great flick. The ending was a bit fucked though.

Leo is a pretty amazing actor. Not long ago he's believable as a scared kid in Catch Me if You Can, now he's believable kicking Jason Bourne's ass.

good movie, but I really dont think a hollywood movie with great actors should use racist words. I dont know, maybe I'm too sensitive.
they use both "ni99er & chink" (I'm just quoting from the movie)

I liked it. 2.5 hours long and dragged a bit in the beginning. I kinda had an idea of the storyline from the trailer but at the end liked it cause I still found it unpredictable.

"The Departed" is insulting to the cast, crew, and fans of 無間道 aka "Infernal Affairs". But if you only saw the American adaptation and not the original, you would think that it is a good movie.

saw it last weekend. great movie.

most racist movie i have ever seen. so much fighting; real entertaining.
they did the accents pretty well. won't ruin the movie, but how the main characters ended up was real good.

best movie i have seen in the last year, next to 'the hills have eyes'
