The guy did not much care for Bankruptcy proceedings and that probably cost him his job. What people like Wagoner can never do is adapt to changing conditions and make radical changes (even though it probably is in the firm's best interests).

Wagner was right about bankruptcy, and right to fight it to the very end. Bankruptcy will be the end of the company. Consumers won't buy cars from an automaker in bankruptcy, and right now the number one issue is lack of sales because of the severe economic situation we're in.
