Does this kid think that the tape somehow HELPS him? Does he think he's going to play this in front of a judge or something?

If I were the judge, the first thing I would notice is the baloney about the school Resource Officer. It sounds like the kid had tried to tell the cop that pulled him over that another cop assigned to his school told him that his car was 100% legal.

As a judge, I'd follow up on that. I'd ask the kid to explain more about what this supposed resource officer supposedly said. Then I'd get that resource officer on the stand, and ask him if that conversation ever happened. When the Resource Officer says the kid was lying, and that he had never (and would never) tell him that his car was legal, the kid would be in deeper trouble than ever.....
