I got mine at Best Buy on Saturday. So far I am happy with it, but they should have gone through another revision or two of software before it was released. I really think that would quiet a lot of the bad reviews. I think VZW and RIM stretched a little to reach the holidays.

Update: our rep placed our orders in too late, so we're now looking between 12/5-12/15 to get ours...hopefully with a software revision.
A couple of my friends gloated that they got the Storm on release date, I shoot back with, "hope you enjoy waiting 4-10 seconds between making phone calls and moving around different menus/applications".

Update:
Got my Storm on 12/2 and used it for a couple of days. Immediately upon taking it out of the box and activating it, I downloaded and re-loaded to the newer firmware. Out of the box, Verizon gives you v4.7.0.65 and the "leaked" firmware is v4.7.0.75. Out of the box, it was very slow switching between portrait and landscape modes, would freeze when dialing phone numbers and getting into and out of camera mode. After the update, portrait to landscape and back worked nicely and it no longer froze on me. Dialing and checking messages as well as taking pics was much quicker. I think there will be an official revision to be released still and it should be worth the wait...at least for those of us clever to update with the leaked firmware. I just loaded about 2gb worth of music onto it and so far, that has been the only shortcoming I have with it. You have to use Blackberry Media Manager to sync your itunes library to the phone. You manipulate your music and playlists in itunes, but the Media Manager is the bridge to actually move the music over. The outboard speaker is quite loud, maybe louder than my ipod touch. I still think the touch is a little easier to use in that regard though. It seemed to lag in and out of the music menus a bit. Aside from that, making calls, receiving calls, text'ing and e-mailing have been flawless. I can't complain there. I am still getting used to the touch/press keyboard and going back and forth between my ipod touch and this, gets very confusing to me. I still type alot faster on the qwerty keyboard on my 8830 than the 9530. The BB Browser seems to be quite improved over the 8830's. No regrets so far.

we got one in the office, it's buggy a couple times it's flipped to portrait and wont flip back, it's kinda slow/laggy too
blackberry is catching up to the iphone, but not there yet, they need to work on it's responsiveness and fonts used

Officially Released for all you Storm users...
http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/05/v...rmware-update/ "Lo and behold, Verizon's taken a break from releasing low-end Nokias for just long enough to officially release its first Storm update -- which just happens to be the same one that's been floating around on the interwebs for a few days now, 4.7.0.75. Anyone unwilling or unable to connect to their PC to nab the update can wait until 9:30 Pacific this evening, when it's said that an over-the-air version of the same software will hit the airwaves. Best of luck, upgraders!" |

Good to see yours has arrived - many of my retail customers got them very early in the shipping, but then again you never know with those B2B reps.
Anyhow I've had .75 software for a week and it's much better... this isn't the end for the upgardes, and tons of apps are about to launch. and i still love when someone talks about WIFI -- I don't understand why I would want a cellphone to rely on a hotspot??? http://crackberry.com/blackberry-bol...pth-comparison
