Good. I don't want the V8 either just due to the poor fuel economy. The performance difference between the two motors is most realized at the extreme upper rpm range, which the average driver rarely makes any use of. I do appreciate the V8 though, and the fact it's a lot of motor especially for the mass and weight. I also fear with that motor BMW will have to price the car out of the market and up there in Cayman S territory. As I favor balance and precision over peak power, if anywhere close in price to the Porsche it would be no contest to choose the Porsche (IMO). For the money I'm saving as compared to the Cayman S or future M Coupe, I plan to mount KW V3s, change the exhaust (TBD), fit BBS LM forged wheels, and change the brakes to Brembos front and rear (in that order). It will be period correct and fun to drive and own for years to come.

THE NEW V8 M MOTOR GETS BETTER FUEL ECONOMY THAN THE OLD INLINE 6 M MOTOR...

... ALL WITH 85 MORE PONIES AND LESS WEIGHT!

If measured on a bench dyno perhaps. In the real world fuel economy is a package deal. Watch the new Z4 weigh more than the current (especially if equipped with a folding roof) and with that it'll have potentially worse fuel economy. The new M3 gets measurably worse fuel economy than the previous generation. See my point.

M coupe/vert only... Z4 no... I need the rear 'seats' and only an M can make me forget about them.
