I looked into buying one last year. Just to be able to say that I did my homework, I did some research on the internet and found out that lots of people absolutely love it, however, there are a good number of people who absolutely hate it. The thing that seemed to pop up all the time is some sort hard rubber that divides the two sides. Also, some people reported that their air pumps and other components would malfunction and that the company was giving them a run around when it came to replacement parts (refurbished parts woudl be used and the timing was not always acceptable, from what I recall). Do some research before you spend the cash just to make sure that you are comfortable with it.
At the end of the day, I balked and went with a good traditional mattress instead...

We had one. Very good for a number of years, then eventually indentations will form in the foam where you sleep, just like a plush pillow-top bed will over a number of years.
I went cheap with my next mattress and just got a normal mattress and put a high quality 3 inch memory foam topper on it from Bed Bath and Beyond. It works just as good for us, and it cost much less. Now when the memory foam starts compressing, we can just replace the memory foam instead of the entire bed (I hope). But since you get the military discount, it sounds like the price isn't the issue for you. If price wasn't an issue, I'd do another tempurpedic bed. Scratch that. If price were no issue, I would definitely order a Marriott Bed from Marriott. It uses either 7 inch or 9 inch Jamison memory foam mattress over a high quality box spring. It is by far the best bed I've ever slept on. But it's close to $2K with the mattress topper and shipping, and you can only buy it through Marriott. I don't think Marriott will give you any discount for being in the military, so it may end up being more expensive than what you could get with your military discount. Then again, you could always call and ask for a military discount. You never know. It is supposed to not trap as much heat as the tempurpedic. http://www.shopmarriott.com/marriott...itemID=MAR-124 http://www.epinions.com/content_404436389508 |

the problems I have heard of are mainly due to heat retention and the inabilty of the foam to breath...
that being said I know people who have one and love it... BTW Tempurpedic if you get the brand name give you a 6 months trial... As soon as the bed get to your house they can not resell it, so even if you really like it call and tell them you don't... you should be able to get a nice discount ~20% or more.

They're a little spendy compared to everything else, but to answer your questions: yes, yes, and yes. I bought a queen size "Classicbed" almost exactly two years ago, and besides the price, I have nothing but good things to say about the product. At ~2g's it seemed to be the best mix of value and features they offered at the time. Now they've got some new products out I'm not familar with. Buy with confidence.

I think it will be the best purchase you could ever make as far as household items go. I have one and absolutely love it.

Where are you getting the military pricing? I haven't see them at AAFES, not that I've been looking lately.
