For the some of us who are going to be purchasing the new 1series, How will you drive your car during its first miles?Follow any specific driving patterns, Or have your own schedule of how you should break in a new automobile?

Break in has got to be one of the most debated issues, i've seen a 100 different ways that people do it.
Im going to read the owners manual and follow instructions in there. If there is nothing there then ill do as i please.

+1. Some say break it in like you will always drive it, some say baby it, some say vary speeds like crazy, etc. Do as the book says if anything and go from there.

varying RPM's within the restricted rev range as much as possible. make sure you properly warm up and cool down and try to avoid prolonged cruising at a consistent RPM.

Ditto. What he said, however, I have accidentally seen 5,500 on a half dozen occasions.
