its happening b/c you didnt prime the walls first. you can actually tint the primer and it will help with the final coat

You def. should have primed the walls first. Just because the wall was already painted doesn't mean it doesn't still need primed.

I just painted every room in my house. If I didn't prime nearly everything each room would have easily need 3 coats of paint, instead I primed and only needed 2 coats of paint. Yes I still did 3 coats but prime is wayyy cheaper then paint and you don't have to be any where near as neat with the prime as you do with the paint.

This also could be the Ralph Lauren paint but I've never used it before. I used all aqua velva benjamin moore paint which is supposedly one of the best paints available.

Looks more like a "shiner" where you put a less-glossy over a glossy, and the underlyiing gloss is shining thru. Also could be latex over oil.

no need for primer...go to SW for help...looks like you dry rolled...you may wnat to start with a more forgiving paint (such as egg-shell) and stay away from satins and semi-gloss...until you get your technique down...

painting is actually more than just slopping some paint on the wall...good luck

Ditto. It might cost you a little more to start off with a tinted primer but it will save you loads of work and you will end up with a better result. Trust me, I know from experience. To go from a white wall to a color like red will take a bunch of coats without a primer to get it even. With a tinted primer, it's a piece of cake. You can fix what you have by using more coats though.

First off give it 24 hours to dry, once you see the effected area (you should see where some area have less paint than others.) you can touch it up. How many coats did you apply already? One of my room took 2-3 coats to get rid of those blotchy area's. Hope that helps!
