550e charging scheduling

We have a separate meter specifically for EV charging and the rate drops at 11:00 PM and returns to high levels again at 8:00 AM. I’m trying to convince our new 550e to charge only during the inexpensive hours. It looks reasonably simple except that this car insists on a departure time. I set it to start charging at 12:01 AM, stop at 7:59 AM and set departure time to 8:00 AM.

Sometimes it works as planned. Usually it doesn’t charge at all and if I get up in the night I have to sign on and reset it to “charge immediately”. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

This is our fourth PHEV so I’m not new to this. We’ve had no issues with the others, but this is the only one that insists on a departure time and I’m wondering if that’s my issue.

I thought I’d check with the experts before visit the dealership.

That doesn't seem right. My 550e also has a schedule to only charge from 0:01 to 7:59 with the departure at 8:10. No problem at all. I plug it in the evening when I'm no longer planning to drive, it's waiting for the time to start charging and has the battery full in the morning.

If you have software version 07/2024.40 the charge in time slot option does not function properly. Known issue which is said to be fixed in later update. Mine has not worked (530e) since I updated to 07/2024.40 last year. Keen to get the next update to fix it.

Yes. Tap on the picture of your car, then scroll to the bottom and tap on Remote Software Upgrade.

I brought the car to the dealership yesterday to fix this issue. They said three of the “charging modules” flagged yellow. After upgrading to 11/2024.65 they all turned green. Last night it charged in the time slot as scheduled. I don’t know what else changed with the upgrade.
