For the long-time posters on this thread, @BGM-M3COMP hasn't posted since November 2023. This is his last post on the Forum, in M5Rick's thread. Maybe his Model 3 in FSD mode killed him during his commute to the hospital where he worked...

I miss his insightful posts... lmaaaaaoooooo

Yes. I understand. The discussion was about leaving at 25%. My point is it's a dumb discussion. What if you don't fill your car with gas? It won't go as far.

I guess I'm weird but I don't like having my cars with less than 1/2 a tank of gas all the time. If I could gas up at home they would be full all the time.

With the Corvette, ///M3, and the S Plaid (on order ), one would think a Doctor of some sort. Yet, his maturity level indicated an he is an Orderly or Lab Technician (?).

How about the people who live in apartments without EV chargers? Ask yourself the same questions

I also don't think anyone is arguing that heavy machinery is ready to switch to full EV, although there are companies working on developing more electric heavy machinery. However, when it comes to remote refueling, electricity definitely has the most wide-spread distribution of any fuel source across the entire world.

Just in case you missed it, I've bolded appropriate text. Backup generators do work to power a gas station and yes, it's unlikely that they'd give away free power to electric cars, however, there are EV charging stations that run on generators (kinda ironic and quite backwards, but yes, they exist). I'd still argue that letting an EV get to such low state of charge in the face of an emergency is darwin at work, just like parking your only ICE vehicle with the reserve light on would be... That's a personal problem in lack of preparedness and is going to be the same whether that individual had an EV or an ICE.

Or you can just keep on making up end of days scenarios that simply show your ignorance in EV ownership.

You're definitely right on that one. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming of EV fires and aluminum foil hats. M5Rick chop chop!

End of the wet dream for what? End of subsidies? Sure, those will end sooner or later (and will be back when the next administration of lefties resurrects them). End of EV sales? Keep dreaming. They’re here to stay, and the market will decide their share.

This is what I said in my post about post-emergency recovery, EV depend on the petrochemical industry just as much as ICEV do.

Additionally, when hurricanes hit, as an example, excavators are brought in to begin cleanup and recovery work. All diesel heavy equipment is refueled by small tankers or pickups with (off-road diesel fuel) in diesel fuel tanks in the bed. Heavy equipment is not driven back to the Sheetz in town to fill up with on-road diesel (which has higher taxes on it) from the gas pump. So as I said, when an excavator is miles up a road in the mountains clearing a mud slide (for example) they don't drive it back to town to refuel, it's refueled on site. So, if the excavator is electric (Volvo makes a few), to recharge it, a diesel generator would be brought in to recharge the excavator battery on site. You see the irony of my, what could be real, hypothetical situation...

Yep, I put my deposit down for my Polestar over the weekend only to have the sales manager call me about it today. Not exactly pleased that it kinda ended without a red alert being sent to the dealer network, apparently it was ended Friday but not a single peep until today from anyone including the news networks. The manager told me he got the email this morning at 11.

They are offering a “goodwill” gesture to all customers who used the izev credit, but it is still not 5k.

This will end the EV market for good. It’s all over for EVs. Somebody turn the lights out on the EV factories.

With EV owners giving up on their cars after one repair, anyone have a guess as to how long we will even see EVs offered for sale?

Stupid is pimping same tired straw-man arguments over and over again, and propagating "us vs. them" mentality.

Lets see, what are the top-6 fear mongering anti-EV arguments:
  • EVs magically catch fire, all the time.
  • EVs have magical 20% minimal SOC (state of charge) limit, so lets concoct a fake 25% charging level example to pretend EVs can't drive far.
  • EVs owners give up on their cars after one repair.
  • EVs cant be driven far, as all roadside EV chargers have endless lines.
  • EVs are not ready for prime time. Lets wait for {hydrogen, solid state batteries, black hole mining, second coming of Jesus}.
  • MICROPLASTICS. Just because.

When people ask me what keeps me up at night I always tell them that I worry about EVs destroying our entire human civilization. Then they are puzzled and ask why I drive an EV. Then I tell them that I will until it needs ONE repair and I will go back to ICE vehicles.
