Given how many of us had challenges w/ it even though we could do individual paint etc. I’d say it’s safe to call it elusive. 🤨

Super easy to get. Just needed the option code (4NB) from the Canada website, submit the request...approved. No delay in the order. Did this for several i5 M60s

It looks like the availability of 4NB as an option is the ONLY change from 2025. Everything else looks the same.

A few other minor nuances for the 550 I noticed ( if you exclude the 2VV which came out late for MY25) would be the lack of summer tires on the 938M 20in rim option and a couple of individual leather color options.

I think there may be at least one additional seat option. I don't remember seeing this one in the 2024 order guide: ZCJO (Ind) Dark Violet/Atlas Grey Merino Leather.

I'd love to see what Dark Violet seats look like. :-)

I think it's probably just me. But I think anything other than the classic Black, Tan (I consider white and the light browns part of the tan group), or the dark red interior, is the equivalent of colored appliances in the kitchen in the 60's and 70's. They seem faddish and eventually will go out of style.

My first car was a 1976 Dodge Dart custom 4 door with a 225 slant 6 that my parents handed down to me in '83 after I got my license at 16. It was Metallic Jade green, with a dark green vinyl top, and a jade green interior. It reminded me of a model car that was assembled without painting the interior. The custom part was the high back seats, center arm rest, and the plastic simulated wood trim inside. I hated that the interior was the same color as the exterior, and especially hated that it was green instead of black.

We had one of those in white with blue vinyl seats and chrome hubcaps. It was my octogenarian grandfather’s car that no one wanted to be seen driving so my dad sold it to a neighbor. Our other options were a blue Impala wagon or orange Datsun sedan so we were picky.

My initial thought on the dark violet would be a no, but I need to see it.

They made the priority 1 upholstery available for lower trim (M60 only previously)

Alcantara headliner available(!)

Seems an additional interior trim available with silver bronze accent (used to be 2 but now 3)

Really hope massaging seats would be available at some point.

ZCJP Individual Taupe with Atlas Grey Merino leather now an option for the US, but must be with the ZLS luxury/comfort seats. This would be my choice with Tanzanite Blue.

I didn't mean to imply that I would actually buy the Violet seats, but I sure would like to see them!

Daytona Violet Metallic is one of the colors on my shortlist to try if I ever go for BMW Individual exterior paint one day. So I'd like to see the Violet/Black Merino option too.

The big thing I had to work through was the CA not knowing you could use BMW Individual for non-paint related option codes but one of the managers there knew the process and got the CA up to speed. After that, it was as you said: I made the order with all the US configurator options I wanted then they edited the 4NB code into the build order request. BMW approved the special order and it flowed through the process as it does for anybody else. It's easy enough but sure is easier for everyone involved when the option is just on the public configurator.

I imagine that this may have been a move to manage component stock by limiting availability in some markets? They pushed past whatever stock limitations they had and removed the Individual gating on its availability in the US. Sounds like a good theory, at least.

It just struck me as a bizarre option miss when I had a COVID-spec A4 Allroad in the mid-trim yet it even managed to have 3-zone climate. Glad Individual was available for the 4-zone climate option because I need a bit more fine grain control over the rear climate with a child in the backseat.

Unfortunately BMW Individual was not an option for me. I tried once I found out how ToddRGuy ordered his. I was informed that for the BMW Military Sales Program overseas, I could only order what was on the BMWUSA website. No variations or special orders permitted under the program. Probably a good thing, since he was stuck in QC for like 8 weeks, while I took delivery 2 months earlier. And I'm pretty sure 4NB, was the only non-standard difference between our cars. We both ordered around the same time in June, and were both week 36 builds. Neither was affected by either the IBS or Steering Spindle recalls, Both are standard selection colors, all other differences are in option selections, etc. And while yes, my being stationed in Spain probably ensured I would take delivery first, I was still driving around waaaay before his (And several others) ever even left the factory.

That being said, I had no real reason for 4NB other than "Because it looked cool, and so therefore I wanted it" and "'It may help resale value someday". I have no small children at home, and I will rarely have anyone in the back seat. So I don't miss it. It still irritated me that there was an option out there that was available in other markets, but not for me. FOMO. Just as the M Badges on the fenders that are standard in the EU for the MSport package, but just not even available as an option in the US. If they were not available anywhere, I probably would have not bothered. But now that I have them, they do look good, and add so much to the appearance that I can't imagine not having them.
