Windshield Wipers
Which non-BMW windshield wipers have you guys replaced the originals with, or should I go with BMW branded ones? From other cars I’ve had (Honda, Acura, and Chevy), the OEMs were not as good as Rain-X or Bosch.

I haven't replaced mine yet, sorry. I don't think you need to worry about it though because your profile still says you are driving a Honda Civic. ;-)

I just replaced mine last week with the BMW ones and looks like it was a mistake. They creak every time they reach upper and lower stops.
It also feels like the wiper arms apply too much pressure. Yet I'm not sure what changed because the original ones were smooth and quiet. But all of a sudden they just started chattering. BTW, the car was 8 months old when they started acting up and I haven't used them much during spring and summer. So they've lasted 4 months at most. WTF, BMW? P.S. Anyone knows how to adjust the pressure on the wiper arms by chance? I briefly looked at them and couldn't find any obvious ways to do so. |

G60 wipers
I have been searching for months to replace the BMW wipers but there are no non BMW options on the market, just BMW ones which are an awful. I swear by the Bosch aero blades, but again, they have no options for the G60.
Desperate for someone to advise an alternative to the BMW ones, which are massively overpriced too! |

So, here's a question: I was looking around for information regarding wipers, and stumbled across a YouTube video with the G60 in it that was discussing a BMW feature called 'water blades'. Is this something everyone has as a standard feature?
Would definitely make finding applicable blades more challenging. |

Figured it out. Bosch Icon OE blades (26” and 19”) fit perfectly. I tried Rain X but with the Tab part of Pinch Tab on the wiper arm, those didn’t work. Put the Bosch ones on today and they are great!

It appears that my '24 i5 M60 has these water wipers or else something very like....three nozzles at the end and 3 in the middle point.

Yes that’s the way it works. Instead of fluid squirting out of nozzles on to the windshield the fluid is dispensed by the wiper arm. Works quite well but of course is more complicated. Very good there’s Bosch blades that fit. I’ll make a note of that. My dealer has been pretty generous about blade replacements. Sometimes just no charge and sometimes just charge for the parts, never for labor.

Yes, I have some sort of variation on those water blades on my M60 - the fluid is dispensed from the wiper arms rather than nozzles. Located on or under the hood.

I think it's a better overall system. First, there is no jet coming up from the hood that will be blown all over the place from the wind at 80 MPH except where you want it. And second, it gets the fluid where it needs to be so you are not "Dry Wiping" which will reduce the life of the wiper blades.

How did you get the clips to fit on the Bosch icon @desalvorw? Looking online they look like a very different clip fitting to what is on the G60?
In the uk we don’t seem to have the water blades despite the video showing it on a 5. Dealer I use has never seen them on a 5 either. If you watch the video, the i5 is shown at the start and end, but the actual car with the wiper blades looks like a 3 series, defo not a 5. Last edited by Andy98526; 12-27-2024 at 06:47 AM.. |

I get how they fit and remove, but are you suggesting the tabs are removalable from the OEM ones and then you can apply them to the Bosch ones, provided they come with the option of changing the tabs over?

This past weekend I finally tested the wiper fluid and camera cleaning features on my car. All works well. It's interesting how the fluid comes from jets on the wiper blades.
