Starting Mode - Will this work in the G60
So, I remember people saying that they were annoyed because when they started their vehicles, it always reverted back to the standard mode and wouldn't retain sport mode.
This just came up in my YouTube shorts. Will this work in the G60? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CePRy4ZsdPQ |

I think they only want you to use Sport Mode on purpose. Probably to keep the efficiency numbers up. I sometimes get in and just put in drive twice, so the transmission goes into Sport mode, but don't actually trigger SPORT. I have the gestures set up for the 5-0-5 to open My Modes. But I wish it just switched to Sport. Or I can just tell "Jarvis" to switch to SPORT mode.

Yes. The difference is that pulling the drive lever twice does not put the whole car in Sport mode. The bolsters don't tighten, the dash doesn't switch, and I am not sure what else doesn't happen, and the steering doesn't tighten. Only the engine and transmission goes into Sport mode. But the feel is not the same as when you go into SPORT mode, and then pull the drive lever again and instead of showing D it Shows S and whatever gear you are in. It stays automatic unless you touch one of the shift paddles. Then it is in Manual until you pull the drive lever again.

regarding modes, has anyone noticed the random sounds/noises that gets pumped in with some of the other modes like expressive or relaxing....
I spend most of my time in efficient or sport. IIRC when I tried to set efficient for start mode I didn't have that option, might have to check that out again...

The F10 550i has a cute party trick. If you have the lever over to the left (S or M mode), and then hit the start/stop button with foot on the brake and not engaging P park, the engine shuts off and then the shifter lever moves itself back to the normal drive position and engages P. On previous cars, there is just a lockout so you can’t engage park (or get the key out of the steering column) unless you get the shift lever into Park and you cannot get there directly from sport/manual mode position. |
