Can I disable the backup warning beep?
On my 2024 i5eDrive, is there way to disable the backup beeping that sounds when I engage Reverse? It's terribly annoying and reminds of the beeps we hear when heavy equipment backs up.

It's a testament to the decent soundproofing in the G60 that I have been only mildly annoyed by the backup warning thus far. That was until Monday, when I heard it outside the car for the first time (after a next door neighbor commented) and was completely shocked. I'm assuming it is maybe an EU regulatory requirement that they globalized for production convenience, because I have never heard any other non-commercial vehicle with such a loud warning tone. While I don't want to disable it entirely, I'd love to figure out how to mute it a bit. While it's not like the cold start on an F90, it is way louder than it needs to be!

I haven’t noticed it. We have 6 EVs on my street and they all make back up noises. My husband’s vehicle isn’t as loud so he also honks his horn before backing up. We are on a cul de sac and there are always kids playing behind our driveway.

I highly doubt there’s any way to do this as it’s a safety feature designed to alert and protect those who might be nearby.

I’m pretty sure it’s federally mandated in the US, but maybe some enterprising individual has found a way?

I'd be willing to bet it can be coded out, so long as you can figure out a way to get into it. I have a BT OBD scanner that I've used in the past, as recent as my 530e to read and clear codes. I used the bimmerlink/bimmercode app. Might try plug it later and see if has access to the G60 firmware yet

Then you shouldn’t have gotten an electric car. Btw, your car weighs like 6k pounds….it is heavy equipment.
