It just makes me wish they would have updated the suspension. I know it's not stock at that point, but it could have really helped the time.

Such an amazing car. Can't help but notice time was just 8/10ths faster than the CSL on same tires (20.6km). Not sure how tunable the stock CGT suspension is, but just matching the grip of the cup2r - not necessarily with new technology - but stiffer springs and higher compression/rebound would make a big difference.

Very cool, that's a lot slower than the mustang GTD. Amazing how far cars have come in the past 20 years or so.
The CGT and SLR are two of my all time favorite cars. Just something about that era of supercars just seems so special |

Doug DeMuro is a mature racer! He knows how to tune. He drives so much he can barely walk now. Regarding that, a better driver could help as well, if not better!

A year or so ago there was a Carrera GT parked outside in the service lot of the Porsche dealer nearest to me. The lot was open/not locked and the car sat outside for a while, maybe a week or two. Likely waiting for parts. Strange choice for the dealer and owner, for a $1m+ car.

That said, parking it outside really carries no risk of it needs parts. You can't get them anywhere but Porsche, and they only made so few, it's not like you can get parts for a stolen one. |

Short of an Auto Show when they first came out...same here. That is, until some popped up at a local dealership. A couple weeks after this pic, there was a third.

Many years ago (20?) driving thru the downtown of a small city in central Wisconsin, a red Mercedes coupe pulled out of a hotel parking lot. Followed by a red Ferrari 328 and a silver Carrera GT. Managed to get behind the Porsche at the stop light leading to a highway. Dude took off like a shot and that V10 howl was incredible. Later that year, asked my wife what she wanted for Xmas, she said a Carrera GT.
