G61 touring B&W i5
Hi Folks,
Does any one have the speaker layout for the *touring* with the B&W. Could not find them online(BMW/B&W), nor any example at the dealer. Front doors, Center and back doors will be likely the same , similar to the subwoofer. But the speakers on the hood need to be moved as in the wagon there is a removable hood. Hence are they gone/differenly positioned ? |

The i5’s are missing the subs under the front seats unfortunately.

Hi,
Where in the trunk is located subwoofer in i5 Touring, and how does it affect cargo space under the floor? I have seen different variants Here is a variant with big underfloor space (7:40) In this video, underfloor compartment is significantly smaller, basically only in right side of the boot - is the thing on the left that subwoofer? (1:42) In this video, there is no such space at all. (2:41) Or is this not dependent on HK vs B&W, and it is rather specific to eDrive40 vs M60, or rear axle steering, or .. .? |

The following is stuff regarding the sound systems in the sedan. Although it doesn't specifically say it applies to the touring model, I bet they are the same in this regard. I hope this helps!
From everything I have seen, the HK system does not have a subwoofer in the rear - it just has 12 speakers, two of them being "bass woofers" in the front doors for the i5, or under the front seats in the ICE models. You can find this information at this page: https://news.harman.com/blog/harman-...st-ever-bmw-i5 Therefore, the HK system will have more space in the back compared to the B&W system, because the B&W system has its larger amplifier AND subwoofer in the rear. You can see lots of detail about the B&W system at this link: https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/bow...-5-series-2023 Also, look through this post from a while ago in these forums. There is a lot of good info there about the sound systems. https://g60.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2070932 Specifically regarding your videos above, the first two show eDrive40 models. The one with all the space has the HK system in it (based on the signage outside the car shown at the 1:55 mark), so it does not have a subwoofer in the rear, thus all the extra space. The second car has the B&W system, so a chunk of that space is taken up by the rear subwoofer. The final video is an M60 with the B&W system, so it also has the subwoofer in the rear but I'm not sure why the right side of the rear is also closed off. I assume it is because of something the M60 has which the eDrive40 does not - so it could be related to the 4 wheel steering system, that is a good assumption. One last thing: I believe the HK speaker grills at the top of the front doors are black, while the B&W ones are silver. So, if you're watching a video and aren't sure which system is in the car, you can probably tell by the color of the front speaker grills near the top of the doors.

Thx for the reply. Yes, I am aware of silver front speakers color on B&W, however there is only a few videos showing this underfloor space.
Also, some articles were mentioning that B&W subwoofer for i5 is actually located between rear side of rear seats, and this underfloor space - not in it. Demo vehicle (eDrive40) that I have seen at dealership was equipped with rear wheel steering and HK, and also with tow hitch - but was having full underfloor space. I have ordered eDrive40 with rear wheel steering, B&W and tow hitch, to be delivered next week, so I will write later what is actually there. I was looking very much forward to that extra cargo space (for charging cables, ...), and now I realized that I might not get it. In worst case, I will install frunk from Wokeby. |

I got mine deliverd,
G61 Edrive40, no rear wheel steering, tow hook and B&W. I can tell you the space is limited under the trunk floor. So I would not get your hopes up too much (sadly) Quote:

I can confirm that the under booth space gets less when you order B&W. You are left with a space of about 8cm deep from floor level in the underbooth. On the ride side of this space you have some more space due to the sub only being on the left side of this space. So imagine the underbooth space with a large block on the left side of the space. I know there a pictures out there of it, if you need me to make some, let me know! |

I tried to show all different versions in videos above, but if that helps, I took a screenshot of this version with only small deeper space on the right.
Is this what you got? |

So, as fresh owner of i5 Touring eDrive40 with B&W, tow hook and rear axle steering, I can confirm that my boot space looks like on the screenshot above i.e. there is a deeper space only on right side.
