Driving Assistant Professional UK

Does anyone know when the UK might follow Germany and USA and approve the further advanced features of the Driving Assistant Professional? I think it’s called Assisted Driving Mode Plus.

Probably won’t be approved for safety reasons but thought I ask the question if anyone knew the answer.

I think it is actually the Highway Assist function that is the bit of it that is missing here in the UK.

Basically hands off the wheel autonomous (level 2+) isn't allowed. The Autonomous Vehicles bill legislated for it, and apparently it could be 2026. (This is my understanding)

But I would wager it will also only be certain motorways etc,

It is only allowed on certain motorways in the US as well. We can't go hands off on "normal" streets, only major highways and freeways (motorways). Even though, I'm glad we have it - I still find it useful for when I am on the major motorways. Good luck with your legislation.

Along similar lines, does the g60 in the uk support traffic light recognition? It was disabled in the previous g30 for the uk (but enabled at least if you are in Germany)
Assumed legislation in the way, no idea if anything has changed as regards that

It will be a good day when we UK folks (hopefully) get the full features of DAP. I knew we wouldn't have the 'plus' version of assisted driving mode initially but I was hoping that traffic jam assist would be enabled. Unfortunately not the case.

My G60 does show traffic lights on the dash and HUD when approaching and coming to a standstill. It also chimes if the lights turn green and I haven't reacted.

Surely you have traffic jam assist? That’s essentially the lane assist/ radar cruise control but a slower speeds. On the g30 if there are no lanes , it locks on the car in front. Assume the g60 would at least match that if not even better.

I am intending to get driving assistant plus from the connected drive store. The car comes with prep for that. It’s not full blown driving assistant pro, you need more hardware for that.

My hope for that is radar cruise with lane steering.

That’s what the write up suggests. Meant to also cover stop start.

I do have Driving Assistant Professional, it does indeed have the active cruise with lane keeping/auto lane change but I'd still have to touch the wheel every now and then before the car starts shouting at me

Unless I'm mistaken, BMW have a traffic jam assist where below 40mph on the motorway you can take your hands completely off the wheel. Unfortunately like the full version of Driving Assistant, Traffic Jam assist is not available in the UK yet. Hopefully soon though!
