Does your charging de-rate on a road trip?

In this recent I-90 Surge video from Kyle Conner:

one of the cars is an i7 that Kyle is driving cross country. He talks about a problem with BMWs where if you charge consecutively using DC fast chargers that the car will eventually slow down its charging rate until you do an AC charge and it resets. He even showed a screen message on the i7 indicating this.

I just looked back at my charging history for my recent road trip and didn't see this happening and I certainly never got a message from the car.

Curious if this is just an i7 thing or if we need to know about this as a possibility.

I haven’t seen this happen in my i7 and was charging using DC only for a whole week.

It's known and has been reported on the iX as well. Unclear what exactly triggers it (how many DC charges, etc).
