Port Times - Germany to Your Port Destination

Hi All, can people who have received their 5’er in the last 30-60 days comment on how long the vehicle spent at the port in Germany prior to their Status change of “In Transit”

BMW Customer service seems to be rubber stamping responses with a 6-8 week transit time, so looking for some real world data. 😄

My car seemed to jump from dispatched from factory to in transient in less than a week. I think the whole BMW status system s/b taken with grain of salt. Any way, after more than 8 months since ordering, car s/b at Baltimore port on 11/26, so ship left on 11/15 and arrives on 11/26. Hopefully it does not sink and it is off loaded before the port strike. No wait, the port strike may not happen now, they will probably get Fired with new admin.

This all depends on the shipping schedules. I have ordered a lot of cars, and sometimes I've gotten lucky and the car sat at the port for just a few days before being loaded on a boat. For my most recent 530ix, it sat for 2 weeks. This is for boats to the port of NY where there is almost always a boat at least once a week. Then it was anywhere from 10 days to 2 weeks depending on the voyage's ports of call. The "transit" time on the tracking website does not start until the car is on a boat and does not end until it is "at the port" in the US. You can also count on about a week at the port in the US before it gets loaded on a truck, then changing status again to "in transit". The genius may be talking about total time from arrival at the port in Europe to delivery and even then 6-8 weeks would be too long for a delivery to me (2 weeks in Bremerhaven, 2 weeks on ship, 1 week at port in US) but maybe not too long for eastern and midwest US delivery sites that could be from other ports and also could require longer truck (or train?) rides to the dealer.

Most of the shipments in October were discontinued until the end of the month. I think they didn’t want to clog the VPC’s with yet more stop sale vehicles.
