No front plate ticket in SoCal...
So I decided to have lunch with my wife, and I got pulled over for no front plate (or rear for that matter) in Glendale.
Ok, ok... so it's my fault because as a gift I got a European plate, and that's what I had on... Bonehead move on my part. But the cop marked not correctable on the ticket. How is that going to affect what I have to pay? Thanks! |

It's not guaranteed that you'll get it changed to "correctable" if you see a judge, but it's your only hope now. It's a $114 ticket otherwise. If it gets knocked down to a fix-it ticket, it's only $10 usually.
Next time, just act surprised and nicely ask the cop to mark it correctable, BEFORE he writes the ticket. I never run a front plate on any of my cars and will gladly pay the piddly $10 fix-it tickets instead of drilling my bumper and slapping a big, ugly, radar-reflecting eyesore on my bumper.

Thanks, I'll do that. I assume I'll have to request to see a judge to try and make it correctable? Or is a date automatically assigned?

Sorry to hear it. I am down in San Diego and had a run-in with a cop who basically pointed it out in passing, and asked me if I was going to have it taken care of. I just told him that I was putting a clearbra on and then drilling the holes, just so that it would be less work on the installer .
I wonder why he marked it as not correctable, that's pretty lame. I'll assume the judge will mark your ticket down to the $10 fix-it that most of us know and are willing to pay every time.
