Hi All,

I recently ordered a 2025 540. It is currently in production.

I had a really hard time deciding whether or not to select the M Sport Pro package because I wasn’t sure I liked the black grill on a black car (though I love it on every other color). I eventually decided against it.

Now I’m having second thoughts. For the G60, is it possible to replace the chrome kidney grill with a black one after I receive the car?

If the status code is 111 or 112 your dealer can change it. If it has gone 150 or beyond, you are unfortunately out of luck. However there is another on this Forum that did just that. Ordered the grille (And the Sensor cover) in black and installed it. It's a bit more work to get the lights to work, and some coding involved as well. But it is possible.

It can be replaced afterwards. But if you like chrome i would suggest you to keep the original. Mine is full black from factory

Can you explain a bit more about the status code? Where can I find what my status code is? Thanks!!

That is the status code from BMW when you log into my BMW website or call the Genius # to inquire on where you are in production process.

Is there a FAQ/sticky for checking status code, and doing something in browser development mode to get additional details?

I started to remove my BMW grill and I fear this change cannot be done without dismounting the front bumper!!
Do you have any advice?? Many thanks

Log on to MyBMW website and enter the production number. That will come back and tell you the status of your build.

I didn't do it. Someone else.on the forum did. I ordered mine with MSport Pro, so it came like this

I am the one who did this.... you can swap it out. The lower center section of the grille is behind the bumper and it takes some prying to get the bumper portion away from the grille but it can be done.

Do you want the Black LED grill or just a black grill? Is there a black grill non LED option? I ordered a 550e but decided against the M sport pro. Would like to change out to just plain black kidney grills

I've got that exact change done. Ordered an i5 with M-sport package, but not the M Sport Pro. The black grille was ordered separately and installed by my dealer upon arrival (they mentioned it requires the bumper to be removed).

The LEDs for the Iconic Glow are there but they're not connected or programmed.
