I would have paid to get the tires changed to the summer ones at their cost, not the sales price but I was not offered this option. I tried to explain to them also about the 10 hours which I don't know if it still applies or not but again no one had ears to listen to me. So, I just walked away, I won't give them my money if they don't want it.

Totally. Cars were limited to 155 mph for years and years and now we see this lower limit associated with all-season tires, which requires dealer verification (of performance tires) to remove.

I will be ditching my all seasons when they wear out. I doubt I would drive over 130mph either way. I can’t imagine ever having that much open freeway. I’m lucky when I can do 60mph.

I believe this is locked into the coding at the factory based on tires chosen on the order. Dealer can’t or won’t change it. The G60 coding options are minuscule compared to the G30 so probably little or no chance of coding in after delivery.

With that constraint is it worth ~$1500 to order with high performance tires (guaranteeing 155 mph top speed) then immediately replacing with all season tires after delivery?

I did notice while using BimmerUtility, that you can select/deselect the different tire options as well as High Speed Tuning. So I assume if I get Summer/High Performance tires, I can just go in and select the high speed tuning and the correct tire/wheel option and it will change my top speed to 155MPH.

If that’s the case, that’s dope! I’d totally consider swapping out my current rated all seasons for high performance all seasons that are rated higher than the existing OEM ones. We just need you to flash it and make a high speed run one of these days lol 😂

Maybe I misread your earlier post about wanting all season tires but also wanting the higher top speed.

Maybe something has changed but the removal of 840 top speed limiter has been next to impossible since early G30 generation if not earlier. And I believe it’s for the aforementioned liability reasons. The idrive allows changing the tire type, mainly for proper TPMS warnings but it can’t change the top speed.

Either way, your car to do as you wish. I don’t live anywhere near a public road where attempting this is prudent. I’d argue it’s not prudent on any public road in the US because, well, American drivers and roads. I’ve never come close to that speed even in my M3 on a track so it’s really all just bragging rights, whatever that’s worth.
