New Vanquish better than Revuelto?

I’ve been watching all the YouTube videos on the new Aston Vanquish. They are all the same really. Beautiful. Sounds good. Goes well. Blah blah blah.

Then I watched this one. My goodness. He captures the sound so much better. And the acceleration. I’m watching on my home cinema and almost ready to grab the seat. Absolutely ballistically insane.

Well worth the watch.

(I really hope these were closed roads!)

Loved my Vanquish when I had it, it’s an elite tier GT car. I just wouldn’t want to be the one holding the bag on the insane depreciation the new ones will take.

The big ones all depreciate regardless of brand. Ferrari too. It’s a massive step up over the old Vanquish so time will tell.

These type of cars are for people with so much money they don’t care.

I.e., not people like me and you.

Yeah but a 10 year old F12 is a $200-250k car while a 10 year old Vanquish is a $90k car despite being close to the same price when new. They make great cars but the depreciation on the top end is especially brutal. It was a very difficult car to sell that had little interest, I wound up trading it to a Porsche dealer which had the best offer I got anywhere. Would love to get another one though.

Must be different in different countries then. I heard the big Ferraris absolutely tank in the UK.

I know in the US an Aston has to be manual to hold its value. It’s bizarre. A used manual V12 VH vantage sells for twice the price of an automated manual and is still worth close to what it cost new. Even the really old 4.3 manuals which honestly weren’t very well sorted sell for more than an automated manual 4.7 which is a way, way better car.

They all hold their value well down here. Not that it really bothers me, I just pay cash for my cars that has no impact on me financially. A full spec new Vanquish would be $1m here (US$670k). That’s not cash that has no impact financially!

Overall though. Just watch the video. It is so good. Money discussions are boring. This video isn’t. .

The people who buy cars like this used and new are VASTLY different.

As you pointed out, that's a monstrously expensive car new, the kinds of people who buy them new it's probably one of their many cars, they're not "honest guys who worked their butts off to stretch for their dream car", it's just another car to these people who have so much money they couldn't spend it all if they tried. They want "the best" one, so is the "experts" say the best has an automatic, they'll buy that. They are by and large, not going to be for hard manual only people.

On the used market, those types of people don't want to be seen in the old model. So now your used ones have to sell to a different type of buyer. You'll get your reachers and the like here, people who want to be seen in something of this tier and will play it off as new. You might get a few other people who are very wealthy, but not "I'm gonna drop half a million plus on a car" rich.

After a while, the cars are either going to go to collector types if they're a very super clean car with a unique spec, or more budget enthusiasts.who want a manual 9 times out of 10. They're there for the experience, and typically don't have the budgets to resolve majorly expensive issues (like a faulty auto manual).

This ia something you see with pretty much all cars that were available with a manual and a stick. Corvettes, 911s, Ferraris, Lambos... The manuals are worth WAY more than the automatics.

It sounds good, but also sounds neutered to me. I guess I like my stuff more aggressive. Especially if I have that kind of money
