Body Repair Cost

This is the damage caused by the sensors not working during the server downtime. My son should not have parked his motorcycle where the handlebars were behind my car. The shifter punched a hole in the tail light. There are scrapes as well. Dropping my car off for repairs today. The estimate is $2,000. WTF? No wonder car insurance is so much money.

Ugh, I’m sorry. I do think that price is high as well.

Tail Lamp - BMW (63-21-8-086-053)

Best guess this is the part, and it lists for $388 and can be had for $257.

Is the body shop getting a new bumper cover and painting it to color? $2k is not bad for a single panel purchase and paint in what I think is some kind of less than big city location where I gather you live. Yeah, no kidding. It gets worse when any kind of sensor needs replacing and then calibrated during the installation.

It's probably mostly labor.

They are pulling off the rear side panel and repainting it. It doesn’t need to be replaced. I did get a notice on my app yesterday that my rear taillight was inoperable. So, that’s been pulled off.

I refused a rental car, so I hope it’s done this next week.

I got side swiped in my G60; and had to get the front passenger wheel well repainted, and the front door also repainted, with the front passenger rim replaced (aftermarket cheap winter rim).

From a distance, you couldn't even tell there's been damage to the car...

Total cost with rental... 8000$!!! Though my car was in the shop for a month, which meant my insurer paid for 1 month's worth of rental car which itself could've been 2500$

Yeah, I think $2k is pretty standard for a bumper refinish...especially from a BMW certified shop.
