[Jimmy_Vegas]

From MyBMW app, I try to enable Remote Services/Remote Cameras. That takes me to the options for Outside and Inside Views (see Pic 1). When I tap either option, I'm prompted to enable Data Privacy (Pic 2), which is enabled (Pic 3). Am I doing something wrong, and can someone tell me how to get this working? Thanks.

Thanks. Mine's an S22+. Other than Data Privacy, is there a setting I need to enable? There's a Drive Recorder, but that seems to be for immediate recording.

The Drive Recorder has a couple of features. Yes, you can do live recording but it will also automatically record before and after an accident if you have that setting turned on. Note, that you can initiate a single live recording by either choosing it in the menu, or just holding down on the parking button in the center console for a couple of seconds at any time. I think those recordings go up to 20 seconds before you press the button and 20 seconds after (can be set up in the iDrive settings menu somewhere). They are stored locally on the vehicle and you can have up to 9 or 10 of them at a time I think. The oldest one will be overwritten by the newest one if you're at the limit.

Thanks. I found the settings to initiate recordings before/after an accident. But, I can't seem to access Remote Outside View or Remote Inside View from the MyBMW app, even though my Data Privacy setting is correct, AFAIK.

Not sure about that. Maybe it's an app issue? I was just able to connect to the internal and external cams to take pictures and an internal video from the app. If you haven't already, you could try rebooting iDrive and rebooting your phone and restarting the app.

Push volume button in for 70 seconds. You will see it rebooting but keep it pressed for the full 70 sec.

Nothing will show up in the app if you haven’t recorded anything. I did a drive recording of launch control and it showed up in my phone app. If the car alarm goes off, it sends recordings to my phone of the inside and outside cameras. I don’t think you have live monitoring of the vehicle. Tesla did that with Sentry mode and found that it was draining the battery.

Thanks. That's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to record from MyBMW, but the app just prompts me to enable Data Privacy, which I did enable in the car settings. I did reboot iDrive and reinstalled MyBMW, which didn't change anything.

I did a drive recording of launch control and it showed up in my phone app.

How did you do that? From your phone? I can produce recordings in the car using the app that sets recording parameters. It should record during certain security events.

It seems that I do, and my sales rep tried to enable it, but he couldn't (I'll visit him on Monday). How do I find out conclusively?

I have never been able to look at my phone app and pull up cameras. I can only use the phone to view recordings. I’m pretty sure that’s how it works. For drive recordings, you activate that from the car. You have to be stopped, the go in and set the recording to say 10 seconds before and 15 seconds after. Then it will start after you restart the car. For launch control, I went to a deserted straight paved road. Started the car, pressed the brake, pressed the accelerator, then let off the brake. It recorded the entire 30 seconds from 4 cameras (front, rear, and both sides).

I can't get "live" views from the app, but I can tell the app to take new photos and/or videos any time I want to. It's not a live feed of video, but it is a photo or a short video of a moment in time.

On the screen below, just press either the "OUTSIDE" or the "INSIDE" button at the bottom and it will allow you to update the pictures and take a 5 or 10 second video using the inside camera.

You also need to go to the Interior Camera app in the car an enable manual access from the MyBMW app - that might be the missing piece

That's funny. I did the same thing late one night when my car was in the shop for its ceramic coating. I went in the next day to pick it up and recognized the area it was sitting in. :-)
