11 kWh charging vs. reality
BMW G60 530e specification says that the max AC charging power is 11 kWh, so it is 2 hours 15 minutes to 100%. However, I tried charging in various public chargers and charging stations always show that my car is charging at 7.4 kWh, so charging time goes beyond 3 hours.
Checked car charging settings and "Current limit for AC charging" is set to "Unlimited", meaning it should take up to 11 kWh if station supports (and they all do, up to 22 kWh). So, I wonder why my car isn't charging at 11 kWh, but 7.4 kWh? Any idea? |

What is the capacity of the chargers? I get 11KW at home with my ChargePoint. Most “slow” public chargers are less than that.

Formally speaking, public stations here advertise they can go up to 22 kWh AC, so I wonder if that is actually supported by infrastructure. They capable for 22 kWh, but if they only receive limited input, probably that impacts the output. That is the only reason I can think of...
P.S. Someone in a dealership said 11 kWh is only true EV, and PHEV will be 7.4 kWh, but that is BS. |

I took delivery of my 530e in July. I understood the maximum charging input was 7kw an hour. This has proven to be accurate. Some 22kw/hr chargers have provided up to 7.4kw. So I assume the car is allowing a touch over the stated amount.
Most of the time though I am using the BMW portable charger at home which supplies only 2kw/hr. If set up for overnight charging it works fine. I only charge to 80%. |

Well, according to https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/all-models/...pro-saloon.bmw it says 11 kW. I undersand that the charger might not be up to speed and feed less, but when station says 22 kW and car takes only 7.4 (which is 2/3 of 11 kW), I find it weird...

11kWh is an update for the hybrids which are coming from I think November. All cars before are limited to 7.4kWh charging.
Don’t think its really important, fastcharging is not a thing with hybrids. |
