Antenna Beeping

A few days ago I started getting an intermittent beep every minute or so after locking up my '24 540i. It seems to be coming from the antenna (shark fin). Its a loud solitary beep on and off for hours. I have not done the update but my G30 never beeped for one.. I shut off the tilt alarm and it still beeped. Theres no warnings when I drive so its baffling.. It could be something in the parking settings but what? If anyone has any thoughts I'd be grateful!

Does it sound like it's coming from inside the cabin, or from the outside?

Either way, I'd suggest rebooting iDrive if you haven't already tried that.

Anybody have an issues with Spotify not loading I believe it was working after the update but not at my ESIM won't activate Spotify is broken now and my vehicle's not updating no more remote services come on BMW man maybe there just rebooting their servers or restoring a better configuration I don't know

Its all good! This is a little thing and I'd rather avoid the shop. It seems to beep outside the car from the fin but only for a few hours.. There was NOTHING this morning so its probably parking related. A guy had the same issue here and it went away. Just curious if anyone else got this after the server went down.

All I can think of is some three letter government agencies or law enforcement tracker that has a low battery alert. No? Maybe?

Indeed - not sure why there would even be a small speaker in the antenna anyway?

Yeah its weird. Its beeps from the outside in the back so I guess its from the fin but who knows? I thought it was the tilt sensor or one of the proximity ones but it seems to only happen in the garage! WTF??? I was hoping to be flooded with people with the same issue here but theres so few of these cars around (2508 5 series sold in 3Q). I guess I'll have Gilligan and the Skipper (down at the shop) check it out if I ever get around to it... If anyone sees this in the future and knows about this please let me know as I'm curious!

Try to capture it and if we don't see or hear from you well then we will know why.. Good luck..

Thanks! I have tried to record it but no luck so far.. its so random! I'm pretty sure its the PDC as it stops eventually. I've read about people bricking thier bimmers with this new update so I'm gonna wait a bit but it could just be the on board computer chirping about something. Either way, I would appreciate future readers getting back to me if they experience this.. But theres always Gilligan and the Skipper if it annoys me enough!

lol, don't feel bad. I'd probably still be looking for the beep. I was born deaf in my right ear, so locating any sound spatially has always been a challenge and usually involves me spinning in 360 degree turns until I can (hopefully) find it.

That sux! I bet you fell a few times doing that too. No, I'm just a dmbazz. I went all out fan boy on the G60 as I bought it, despite the polarization surrounding it, and its completely exceeded my expectations. It got up well up in the 100s one day last summer and someone got heat stroke sitting in my black G30 so I HAD to trade it in.. but my G30 was perfecto in every other way so it was a leap of faith!
Now I consider the G60 to be the apex of western civilization (which isn't going to last much longer with climate change and imminent nuclear war).. So I'm gonna enjoy my bimmer while I can!!! But I can see theres some smart people on here who really don't like my ride so I started to look at it with a more critical eye. THATS when I heard the BEEP!!!
Huh?? I didn't know the hot water heater beeped.. Nooooo it was Gretchen!!! I thought it was an alarm at first and then it must be the server outage or a beep chirp for the update. I'd have it fixed and then I'd peek out the garage door and it would BEEP! at me tauntingly!
So its gotta be a wonky sensor or a pdc issue, right? I can live with that... screw it! Then someone on here told here told me to reboot the system so I did. As it was making all those scary noises behind the dash I heard the BEEP! outside the car... The computer was off! Wait one...
Thats when I discovered it was the overhead garage door opener chirping for a battery! It felt like dopamine poured out of the ceiling on to my face! It wasn't a big deal but we all want the perfect ride, paradoxically! Thanks for the knowledge and the tips here guys!!! I still love my HK stereo, cherish the absence of buttons and will never understand the tech threads but I'm grateful for the help. 🥲

Lol! I started to walk and wonder when you guys told me to capture it.. The recorded BEEP! sounded alien and why indeed would there be a speaker in the fin??? But the clincher was the BEEP! happening while I re-booted the system...
Its not that I dislike going down go the shop but its a mixed bag there! And I'm used to perfect bimmers so it was nice to figure this out here vs. down there (which would have been impossible as they couldn't hear my garage door). And now I can FAN BOY around without a guilty conscience.
Did you know the G60 has more than 375 hp? Did you know with the boost it can leave scatcats and hellcats in the dust? The 5s always were a blend of sport and luxury but its obviously a luxurious sports car now... Its just a bigger, heavier and faster version of itself! AND IT DOESN'T BEEP!!!
